One of our favorite local restaurants, King Eider’s Pub , is a 1/2 mile away, just over the bridge in Damariscotta and a 15-minute walk from the Newcastle Inn.

This cozy pub is located in a 100-year-old building that has hosted a number of businesses in the village of Damariscotta. The pub’s brick walls, cherry floor and low-hanging beams invite guests to grab one of the hanging mugs and sit down for a locally brewed beer. Choose from the menu of local seafood, steaks and fresh produce. King Eider’s also features an oyster bar that serves local Damariscotta River oysters.

The friendly proprietors at King Eider’s love to tell the world they serve New England’s finest crab cakes. The menu also includes chicken, burgers and traditional pub fare like bangers and mash and a steak & ale pie. There’s a children’s menu, too, and King Eider’s is open for lunch and dinner. There’s an extensive liquor selection behind the bar that features more than 100 whiskies.

We like it so much that we offer a special “King Eider’s Pub Package”  that guests can add to the cost of their stay. For an additional $75, guests of the inn get a $50 gift certificate to use at the pub, two pint glasses, a bottle of King Eider’s Maple Barbecue Sauce, a shot glass and a baseball cap. Even without the package, though, you’ll be treated to friendly service and fantastic food at King Eider’s Pub.
